Description
The Clinical Research Centre (CRC) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill a Project Manager post on a 4½ -year full-time contract. The incumbent will be based at the CRC offices at the Old Main Building at Groote Schuur Hospital but will attend other sites as required.
The CRC aims to support its staff in their conduct of high-quality clinical research through advice, services and facilities. We are seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to work with investigators and their teams in their conduct of their clinical trials at various sites across Africa. You will work with a friendly and dynamic team in a Centre of Excellence in trials.
Requirements:
University degree in a health or social science subject
Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating or managing multi-centre clinical trials
Database management skills
Financial management and procurement for research studies
Clinical trial coordination, monitoring, and good clinical practice
GCP certification
In-depth knowledge of regulations and implementation of clinical trials
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to take initiative
Ability to coordinate multiple aspects of a project
Ability to travel to trial sites and investigator meetings
Advantages:
Master’s in Public Health or similar postgraduate qualification
Formal training in trial coordination, monitoring and/or project management
Experience managing multi-site studies in Africa
Responsibilities:
Managing clinical research activities across multiple sites, including but not limited to coordinating:
Regulatory and ethics applications and renewals
Study contracts negotiation and set up (with sites and vendors)
Writing and review of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials
Start-up procedures (arrange training, site initiation visits, etc.)
On-boarding new sites and site staff
Recruitment and retention of participants across sites
Data management across sites (oversight)
Study close-out activities and archiving
Serve on the Project Management Team (PMT) and attend meetings of the PMT to contribute to (including but not limited to):
Supporting site institutional review boards (IRB) and regulatory approvals
Monitoring and providing support for recruitment and follow up for all sites
Logistics for remote and in-person SC meetings
Data management including QA/QC
Organise, chair, and keep records for project team meetings
Oversight of UCT project team activities, including purchasing, finance, human resources, site monitoring, data quality, training
Coordinate and organise training exchange visits between sponsor and UCT
Coach, mentor, motivate, influence, and supervise team members to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
Ensure that staff are developed to their full potential by identifying training needs and coordinating training and development.
